I think half or more of them were automatic with a GM sourced transmission. It has my interest. but 12 quarts of oil every change? $$

So, here’s your chance to own a manual, Ferrari V12 at less than $50k. Say that out loud and ask yourself in 10 years if you misse d a deal....

It’s already over 60k, just a few minutes later.

Besides, I’d rather have this.

Much more affordable is the Ferrari toolkit, also up for bid. Not that I can afford it, either.

I knew a sedan in excellent condition that was begging for $30k back in ‘14. Oh well....

Those things are a mechanical nightmare, I talk to a guy with an F355 around here sometimes and he said they are a money pit even by Ferrari standards and many parts are impossible to get.

Mine is 9 qt, I think. Once a year and I get the oil from Walmart (Mobil 1 15-50 bc of the zinc content). Similar priced change as my tdi haha

Be careful with zinc oils. If not regularly driven the zinc settles....that's what I'm hearing

Hmm, interesting. The oil debate runs very deep but the majority of owners are running the same with good results. But that is a concern, for sure. Most of these cars, including mine, are sadly not driven regularly.

To me, it seems over blown. The car was designed for the engine to come out. Most qualified shops can drop the engine in under 6 hours. But, there is so much fear around it, qualified shops charge an arm and a leg. Plus, you have owners going to non qualified shops trying to save money. These shops try to cut corners and get in over their head and it ends up costing much, much more in the long run. This becomes a big issue when an owner sells a car with a fresh service to an unsuspecting buyer, something fails, they send the car to a qualified shop, and get a laundry list of items that need addressed because they were either skipped or were done improperly.

I know a few people who have done a proper engine out in their garage over a long  weekend. Most DIY’ers take their time and do it over the winter.

There was a guy out west matt farah interviewed. does custom mustang work. independant rear suspensions, etc all that. Showed up on Hoonigans burn out pad and was talking about the car. Talked about that sort of oil in his race engine, how much he drives it and its only occasional so hes alwys changing it before events becuase it sits for weeks in between drives.

Yeah I can imagine all the angles on a thing like this. My dad could probably do it, he worked on his airplanes himself.

Mobil does have some race oils with an insane amount of zinc . Maybe it was one of those?
